If you want to report the assault and/or have evidence collected

  • Do not bathe, use the restroom, changes clothes,  drink anything, or eat food in order to preserve evidence
  • Call your local rape crisis center and request that SANE(Sexual Assualt Nurse Exam) nurse meet you at the hospital.
  • Bring an extra pair of clothes.
  • Other things to bring for comfort:
    • Face wipes
    • Mouth wash
    • A favorite snack
    • Water
    • Chapstick
    • Lotion rich tissues
    • Headphones and music device
  • Things to know:
    • They will take all items you have with you as evidence.
    • You will be given a series of medications to take in order to protect you from infection.
    • You DO NOT have to report an assault in order to collect evidence.
    • SA evidence collection is best done AS SOON as possible after the incident.
    • You can get hospital bills for SA expunged.
    • You can collect evidence up to 72 hours after the incident.
